Hot Chocolate Quest: Caribou Coffee

If you followed my red eye blog, you knew that I was doing "the hot chocolate quest" for the linoln park area. I've decoded to carry it on here since RedEye Hoods is no longer up. =( It's sad, but I met some great people out of it and can add blogger to my resume.

Today's establishment: Caribou Coffee. Not only could you choose from dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate, but you could blend them! So I chose dark and white.

This, my friends, is hot chocolate. The real deal. Made from actual melted chocolate and steamed milk (according to the manager who made mine) this is very good. It's chocolate and it's hot. Exactly what Hot Chocolate SHOULD be.

It doesn't need any more explanation that that. So, here are the updated rankings

Html/css machine

Lately if I'm not in class I've been a coding machine. This quarter I'm taking IM 270 (user-centered web design) and am making sites for my homework (see my latest; I will be revising in html5 this week for homework). At work I made the website for the homecoming dance. I'm also working on one for the Multicultural Greek council (MGC), Depaul Women's a Capella (DWaC), and am putting the finishing touches on DemonTHON-DePaul's dance marathon.

In my free time I'm updating the website for where I went to grade school. The site was created 12 years ago in a table-based layout (yikes!) so I'm sprucing it up in a CSS layout. It's a tad bit more work than I thought it was going to be, but I feel the need to give back to the school that essentially raised me. St. Joe's taught me the basics and history of the computer. Without those basics I might have chosen a totally different major/career path.

I've put RedEye blogging on the back-burner because they changed the way "'Hoods" is run. Gone are they days of quick blog posts. Now I have to pitch a topical idea (sort of like a column). So now I'm just moseying around Lincoln Park looking for inspiration. A blog might be in the future for the Office of Student Involvement so I will probably contribute to that :-)

IM 270 might be the best class I have ever taken at DePaul.

I also really want to live on or off Clark Stret in Lincoln Park whenever I leave my current apartment.

2012 resolutions

I know it's on the late side for this and some people think New Year's resolutions are pointless, but I made two for this year.

Last year it was to "rule my LIFE." I think I did an adequate job. I had a great year and didn't let it pass me by. This year it's to be more decisive. I think it stems from growing up in a small town. "What do you want to do?" is responded with "I don't know. What do you want to do?" In all honesty, it can take me a while to decide on things such as shopping for groceries or clothes.

My other resolution is a little more "fun." When I was at Whole Foods yesterday I treated myself to some flowers. Nothing fancy or too expensive. They're pretty and make me smile when I see them. I'm going to try & buy myself flowers once a month.
